Cumann Na mBunscol Hurling Final

Congratulations to the School Hurling team who are now Tyrone Champions. Well done, Boys! The team will now compete in the Ulster Finals in a few weeks.

Science Workshops

The Primary 5, 6 and 7 year bands enjoyed an entertaining and educational workshop on Forces and Energy. Many practical activities were demonstrated to the children and they had loads of fun watching forces at work!

 

 

Trocaire & St Vincent de Paul Donations

Thank you to all parents & pupils for their generosity over the Christmas Period. Approximately £2000 was raised for Trocaire & St Vincent from proceeds collected at Christmas Performances, class donations to Trocaire and items purchased from the Christmas Crafts Group and Soapbox Enterprises.

Family Learning Programme

The Delta Parenting Programme that is being funded by Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal in conjunction with South West College has commenced. The programme will aid parents to assist their children with Literacy and Numeracy at home.   

 

Bothar Competition

Darragh in Primary One received a bag of goodies for his successful entry in the Bothar Colouring Competition. Well Done!

Tesco Colouring Competition

Congratulations to Blanaid and Eimear for their winning entries in the Tesco Christmas Competition.

 

Centra Colouring Competition

Well done to Grace from Miss Park's class who won a bicycle in the competition. Below is Grace with Mrs Hampsey and Gareth Woodhead, asst. manager of Centra Dungannon.

 

Primary Mathematics Challenge

During the month of November, Primary 6 and 7 pupils participated in a Primary Mathematics Challenge.  Recently the children received their Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates. Well done to all concerned.

 

Primary 3 attend Sporting Blitz

Recently the Primary 3's attended a Sporting Blitz at Dungannon Leisure Centre. One of the coaches in attendance was Tyrone County Star, Joe McMahon.

 

The Eco-Council

The School Eco-Council recently attended the launch of Nunnery Hill Woodland Garden. The Mayor of Dungannon was present along with other council representatives.

 

Music with Malachi Cush

Recently the school have secured the expertise of local celebrity, Mr Malachi Cush, who is using his talent to deliver entertaining and educational music lessons to all pupils every Wednesday and Thursday. Music lessons within the school have certainly been enriched in recent weeks. 

 

Carol Singing

Under the guidance of Mrs Devlin and Mrs Sinead Jordan the Primary 7 choir have been very busy Carol Singing over the past few weeks. The choir have performed at Tescos, Sainbury’s, Newell Stores, Church Mews, Geannain Home, Loane House and Nightingales. They were a credit to the school and we were very proud of them. They will also be performing in Market Square on Monday 19th  December. 

 

Christmas Plays

We hope you have had the opportunity to attend some of the various performances in which your child/children took part during the past few weeks. Many thanks to the teachers/staff for preparing the children for these invaluable experiences and to the parents for ensuring all children were suitably prepared for their parts. A DVD of all plays can be purchased in the office for £5.

After School's Golf Club Meets Darren Clarke

On Wednesday 12th October, the after school's Golf Club had the honour of meeting Open Champion, Darren Clarke. The children were fortunate to speak to Darren and get their photo taken with an international sporting trophy.

 

St Francis PS, Lurgan Annual 11-A Side Gaelic Football Tournament

Congratulations to our Primary 7 boys who finished as runners up in a Gaelic Football tournament at St Francis Primary School, Lurgan. A large number of schools were involved in the annual 11-a side event and they narrowly lost the final match to St John The Baptist PS, Portadown.

 

Curriculum Information Evening

On Wednesday 4th October, the school hosted a Curriculum Information Evening. Those in attendance had the opportunity to visit their child's classroom, talk to their teacher and were informed about topics their children would be covering in the coming year. Many thanks to all parents who attended.

B- Dramatic

Under the guidance of Brian McMahon from B-Dramatic, Primary 6 pupils are currently exploring Fair Trade through the medium of Drama.
