A busy week in the Nurture Nest!

6th Feb 2026
We had a very busy week in the Nurture Nest. We were learning about St. Brigid and looked at how St. Brigid's crosses were made. We listened to the story about St. Brigid's cloak and decorated pictures of St. Brigid. In literacy we were focusing on the 'm' sound and had great fun finding this sound all around the room, forming it properly and having a sound hunt. We also decorated the 'm' shape in a variety of colours.
In numeracy, our focus was on number 8. We enjoyed using corks to print this number and explored it during a number hunt. We went up the town on a big bus as part of our world around us topic. We loved seeing all the buildings in Dungannon which we had found on google maps.
The highlight of our week was making pizza! We were able to talk about our 2d shapes with our round pizza, square pieces of ham and cutting our slices in a triangle shape. In our Theraplay session we focused on having 'No hurts', 'Sticking together', and having fun!
