Having fun getting ready for Halloween in Primary 1
This week in literacy we were listening to a story called Room on the Broom and talking about Autumn. We clapped some more Halloween syllables. We used scissors to make our pumpkins.
In Numeracy we were learning about the number 7. We counted forwards and backwards, to and from and started and stopped on different numbers on the counting stick. We also did some more work on Halloween and Autumn patterns. We listened to the 5 little pumpkin rhyme and used the Numicon spinners to 10. We stamped number 8 at play. It was maths week Ireland and we played the duck game and the apple game.
In the world around us we did our Term 1 science experiment. We all carved out a pumpkin and planted the seeds. We used our senses to explore what a pumpkin is like. We lookeda at it and felt it, it had a strange smell. We are going to investigate what the seeds need to grow. Some will get water and light and some won't. We wonder if they will grow. We watched a video called Frances the Firefly and talked about things we can do to keep safe at Halloween.
In the Arts we listened to a song called The Hairy Scary Castle and we made a sound story using the instruments.
We used JIT5 animation to create Halloween stories.P.E. with Niamh was all about Halloween. We did the ghost
dance and had relay races. It was fun.
We are looking forward to getting dressed up for our Halloween fun day tomorrow.
Check for more photographs then.
