Primary 7 Transfer to Post-Primary School

20th Jan 2023

23/1/2023

Dear P7 Parent/ Guardian,

You are invited to attend a P7 Transfer Meeting on Monday 30th January 2023 at 6.00pm in the KS2 Gym to discuss your child’s transfer to Post Primary school.

It is extremely important to read very carefully the admission criteria for the school/schools which you wish to nominate on the transfer form. You should also study very carefully the arrangements for Special Circumstances – if you feel they will be applicable.

The online application opens from

February 1st @ at 12:00 noon – 23rd February @ 4:00pm

Further information available at

https://www.eani.org.uk/parents/admissions/post-primary-admissions-guide

At this stage the Primary 7 pupils have had the opportunity to listen to teachers and pupils from the various secondary schools and to discuss any concerns or queries they might have. Indeed, most of the children appear to have decided which secondary school they wish to attend in September. Please discuss this fully with them before you finally decide which school to name/nominate as first choice on the Transfer form.

Parents are responsible for completing the form but we are more than willing to provide assistance.

Please book an appointment with the school office. Interpreters are available on request.

Parents waiting to for a GL or AQE result on Saturday 4th Feb should book an appointment on the week beginning 6th of February.

Appointments available  Feb 2, until Feb 10 and on the  21, 22, 23 Feb after the mid term break.

Documents required.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Address (Utility bill or Bank Letter)
  • Proof of Eldest Child (Provided by the school)
  • GL or AQE assessment result (sent to the parent)

We know that this can prove to be a stressful time for those children who await results of external tests. I'm sure you will do all in your power to reassure your child of his/her value and worth regardless of the outcome of any such test. It is most important to know and to remember that they will all follow the exact same Curriculum and take the exact same GCSE examinations regardless of which secondary school they attend.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries or concerns as we are most eager to assist.

Thanking you for your co-operation.

Yours faithfully,

Mr S McCreesh
