SPSC1 January week 1 2026

9th Jan 2026

We began the week with an unexpected but exciting snow day on Monday, which meant a slightly shorter first week back. Despite this, the children have settled back into school life extremely well and have worked hard to re-establish classroom routines after the Christmas break.

Throughout the week, the younger children focused on counting and sorting activities, developing their early number skills through hands-on learning and play. They also practised writing their names using stencils, showing great concentration and pride in their work as they built confidence with letter formation.

The older boys challenged themselves with work on numbers in cm² and spent time writing a Christmas round-up, reflecting thoughtfully on their holiday experiences and practising their writing skills. It was lovely to see how engaged they were and how keen they were to share their ideas.

We also enjoyed creative time through art activities and had lots of fun in PE, where the children demonstrated great energy, teamwork and enthusiasm.

The highlight of the week came on Friday afternoon when the older boys went swimming. They were all absolutely brilliant, showing excellent behaviour, confidence and effort in the pool. We are very proud of how well they represented the class.

Overall, it has been a positive and productive start to the new term, and we are looking forward to the weeks ahead
