SPSC1 January week 3 2026

23rd Jan 2026

We have had another fantastic and busy week in SPSC1, with lots of brilliant learning and fun taking place across the curriculum.

In cookery, we made delicious ham and cheese toasties. The boys practised important life skills such as spreading, assembling ingredients, and following instructions carefully. Everyone was very engaged, and the best part was getting to enjoy what they had made.

Art lessons were full of creativity this week as we explored The Three Little Pigs. The boys experimented with creating “muddy” water using cornflour and hot chocolate, enjoying mixing the ingredients and exploring different textures. They used this to add detail and realism to their
’muddy water’ for the three little pigs to play in.

Reading was another highlight of the week. All the boys worked incredibly hard and did brilliantly in their Accelerated Reader quizzes, showing clear progress in their comprehension and confidence.

Phonics work continued throughout the week, with the younger boys focusing on early phonics and building their foundational reading skills. The older boys were challenged in maths, where they worked on place value and demonstrated good understanding and focus.

In PE, we had lots of fun while developing key physical skills. The boys particularly enjoyed musical statues and practising their balance, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork.

On Friday, the boys took part in swimming and showed excellent confidence and determination in the pool. They worked really well alongside the older boys, demonstrating strong listening skills and resilience, and we were extremely proud of the effort and progress they made.

Overall, it has been a really positive week full of learning, effort, and achievement. Well done, SPSC1 — keep up the fantastic work!
