SPSC1 Week 3 March
This week marked a lovely short week following the St Patrick’s Day break, and the children returned refreshed and ready to learn. We were especially fortunate with the weather and made the most of the sunshine during our Daily Mile. The children thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors, and it was great to see their energy and enthusiasm as they ran and exercised together.
In Numeracy, we focused on developing our understanding of direction. The children explored key vocabulary such as left, right, forwards, backwards, North, South, East and west and began applying this knowledge through practical activities and discussions. They showed increasing confidence when giving and following directions.
Creativity was in full swing during our Art sessions. The children built upon their previous work by adding houses to their paintings, transforming them into colourful village scenes. It was wonderful to see their imagination come to life, with each piece reflecting their own unique ideas and attention to detail.
We also continued with our Attention Autism sessions, including Bucket Time, which remains a favourite. The children engaged really well, demonstrating improved focus, anticipation, and shared attention throughout the activities.
A highlight of the week was our sensory tuff tray activity inspired by the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children particularly enjoyed the hands-on task of “cutting Goldilocks’ hair,” which was especially engaging for some of our younger boys. This activity supported fine motor skills development while also encouraging imaginative play.
To end the week, we had a fantastic cookery session where the children made cheese scones. They followed instructions carefully, practiced their mixing and shaping skills, and were very proud of the finished results. Of course, the best part was tasting them!
Overall, it has been a positive and productive week, filled with creativity, practical learning, and lots of smiles.
