SPSC1 weekly round up 18th May- 22nd May
This week in SPSC1 we explored the Numicon number 5 through a range of practical and engaging activities. The children enjoyed developing their number recognition and counting skills using hands-on resources and games.
In our World Around Us learning, we focused on plants and talked about how things grow. The children loved exploring nature and learning about planting and caring for living things.
Story time was a big highlight this week, especially our interactive story sessions on the tuff tray. The children showed fantastic imagination and enthusiasm while bringing stories to life through sensory play and discussion.
In numeracy, we continued focusing on time and revisited fractions through fun practical activities. The children worked hard to recognise different times of the day and explored sharing and halves in a variety of ways.
Tuesday’s PE session gave everyone the opportunity to stay active and practise their movement and coordination skills while having lots of fun together.
The boys worked incredibly hard to create a beautiful wall display linked to our poetry tree and planting theme. Their creativity and teamwork really shone through, and they were very proud of the finished display.
Speech and language activities were another favourite this week, particularly our sensory work exploring different scents. The children enjoyed discussing what they could smell and using descriptive language to share their ideas.
We also shared lots of story time throughout the week, helping to build listening skills, confidence, and a love of reading.
To end the week, Friday’s cookery activity was a great success as we made crispy buns together. The children loved mixing the ingredients, following instructions, and tasting their delicious treats at the end of the day!
