SPSC1 Weekly Round-Up December week 1
What an exciting, creative, and festive week we have had in SPSC1!
In cookery, the classroom was filled with wonderful aromas as we made spicy chicken noodles. The children showed excellent cutting, stirring, and mixing skills while learning about flavours, textures, and ingredients from different cuisines. Everyone showed great confidence trying new tastes and sharing their opinions like true food critics!
Our art table has been bursting with creativity this week. We explored a variety of activities including making Gingerbread Men, designing our own train display, and decorating it with lots of good elves on board! The children took such pride in their cutting, sticking, and designing. Our display board is now full of colour and festive cheer, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it.
In maths, Carroll diagrams were a huge hit! The children sorted shapes by size, colour, and other properties, showing fantastic thinking skills and great teamwork. This really helped develop their understanding of how we classify and organise information, and they were very proud of themselves.
A big focus this week has been our Christmas play. The children have worked so hard practising their songs, rehearsing lines, and learning to perform with confidence in front of others. Their enthusiasm and dedication have shone through each day—well done, everyone!
We also had a very special visitor… ? We were thrilled to meet Santa, share our wishes, and enjoy some magical moments together. The children were filled with excitement and showed wonderful manners.
To finish the week, we wrapped up warm and headed out on a Winter Scavenger Hunt. We explored the outdoors, spotting seasonal changes and using our senses to find clues around us. It was a brilliant opportunity for learning, observation, and lots of fun!
