SPSC1 weekly round up January week 2
What a fantastic and action-packed week we have had in SPSC1! The boys have been busy learning, exploring and having fun across a wide range of activities, and they should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved.
This week, we spent time focusing on handwriting, working hard to improve letter formation, pencil grip and control. The boys showed great determination and concentration, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they practised their writing skills.
In maths, we continued our work on centimetre squared, building on previous learning and reinforcing key concepts. The boys approached their tasks with enthusiasm and showed excellent perseverance, especially when faced with challenges.
Our cookery session was a real highlight! The boys had great fun making custard for their cake, carefully following instructions and taking turns sensibly. They loved mixing, pouring and tasting, and it was fantastic to see them developing independence and practical life skills in such an enjoyable way.
In PE, we had great fun working on balance. The boys demonstrated excellent effort as they practised balancing in different ways, showing improved coordination, focus and resilience. There were lots of smiles and a real sense of achievement throughout the session.
We also worked hard on sequencing, exploring ascending and descending order. The boys engaged really well with the activities, showing growing understanding and proudly sharing their answers.
Sensory play was another big success this week. The boys had a brilliant time in the water tray, using their fine motor skills to wash and pour. This activity supported hand strength, coordination and imaginative play, and everyone was fully engaged and enjoying themselves.
In art, creativity was in full swing as we created the Three Little Pigs’ houses. The boys explored different materials and textures, producing some fantastic work while developing their creativity and fine motor control.
On Friday, the frosty weather inspired some wonderful outdoor creativity. The boys used chalk to draw on the playground floor, creating fun markings and designs so they could play games on them during lunchtime. They loved working together, and it was lovely to see them taking ownership of their play and making the most of the chilly conditions.
We finished the week on a high note with swimming for the big boys. We are so incredibly proud of how well they are doing in week 2. Their confidence in the water continues to grow, and they showed excellent listening, bravery and determination. What a wonderful way to end the week!
Overall, it has been a brilliant week full of learning, laughter and progress. Well done, SPSC1 – keep up the amazing work! ?
